Origami is the art of paper folding.
Paper (usually a square of paper) is transformed into an animal or bird or person or insect or bug or anything else you can imagine.
Unit origami takes many pieces of paper, all folded the same (or nearly the same) way, and interlocks them to produce extraordinary geometric shapes.
Wet folding allows you to shape the paper with smooth curves which remain as the paper dries. This produces many realistic three-dimensional models.
Money folding uses rectangular paper currency instead of squares. While there are lots of jokes about folding money and increasing your cash, these folds can be great presents for baby & bridal showers, retirement parties, etc.
Here are a few pictures of models folded at LIPS meetings:
- Hummingbirds love double lattes!
- Smile when you fold that!
- a compacted car!
- so that's a Pokemon egg, eh?
